Dubelyoo Completes Live Painting For The Atlanta Hawks MOSIAC Project
Last January, the Atlanta Hawks hosted the cornerstone of our 2016 Black History celebration, the inaugural MOSAIC: Race & Gender in Sports event. MOSAIC is an acronym for Model of Shaping Atlanta through Inclusive Conversations. The half-day symposium included lively conversational pairings including NBA All-Star and Hawks Board of Directors Vice-Chair Grant Hill and former corporate consultant to MLB and numerous Fortune 500 companies, Janet Hill. Hosted by Rohit Malhotra, Executive Director of the Center of Civic Innovation, the day also featured author/activist Kevin Powell, Troy Vincent, EVP - Football Operations, NFL, Oris Stuart, Chief Diversity Officer, NBA and Amy Wilson, Director, Gender Inclusion, NCAA.
This year, the Atlanta Hawks & Philips Arena will host MOSAIC on Tuesday, March 14 from 9:00am – 2:00pm at the Georgia Freight Depot in historic downtown Atlanta. This year’s theme is “Sports as a Catalyst for Social Action.
Some notable participants in other program elements will include Thabo Sefolosha (Atlanta Hawks), Bakari Sellers (CNN), Cynne Simpson (Fox 5), Dominique Wilkins (Naismith HoF), Theresa Wenzel (President, Atlanta Dream), Marc Spears (The Undefeated) and other thought-leaders in the social activism space.
